Teaching Financial Research That Actually Works
We started lumirosori in 2019 because too many people were learning outdated methods that didn't match how financial research actually happens in 2025. Our programs focus on practical skills you'll really use.
Why We Started lumirosori
Back in 2018, I was teaching finance at a regional university and kept hearing the same frustration from students. They'd finish courses but still felt unprepared for actual research work. The gap between academic theory and practical application was massive.
So we built something different. Our programs teach financial research the way it's actually done—messy data, incomplete information, tight deadlines. We focus on decision-making skills that transfer across different market conditions.
Based in Wagga Wagga, we've worked with students from across regional Australia. Many come to us after trying other programs that promised quick results but left them without real skills.

What Guides Our Teaching
Honest About Limitations
We don't promise overnight expertise or guaranteed outcomes. Financial research takes time to learn properly, and we're upfront about what our programs can and cannot do.
Realistic Timelines
Our main program runs for nine months starting October 2025 because that's how long it actually takes to build solid research skills. Quick courses skip too much.
Practical Methods
Every technique we teach comes from actual research projects. We skip theoretical frameworks that look good on paper but don't help when you're facing real data problems.

Dexter Millwood
Founder and Lead Instructor
I spent twelve years doing equity research for mid-sized firms before moving into education. What I noticed was that most training focused on tools and formulas, but the hard part of financial research isn't calculation—it's judgment under uncertainty.
That's what we emphasize at lumirosori. How do you evaluate contradictory data? When do you trust your model versus your instinct? How do you communicate findings when you're not completely certain?
I still work on consulting projects because staying connected to actual research keeps our curriculum relevant. The methods we taught in 2019 have evolved significantly based on what we've learned works in practice.
How Our Programs Work
We structure everything around building judgment through repetition. You'll work through dozens of scenarios with increasing complexity, getting feedback on both your conclusions and your reasoning process.
What You'll Actually Do
- Analyze real company financials from Australian and international markets
- Build valuation models with incomplete or messy data
- Write research notes that communicate uncertainty appropriately
- Present findings and defend your reasoning to experienced analysts
- Review historical research to understand what worked and what didn't
What We Don't Do
- Promise employment outcomes or specific career advancement
- Teach trading strategies or short-term speculation techniques
- Focus on passing certification exams as the main goal
- Offer accelerated programs that compress learning into weeks
- Guarantee any particular skill level or competency by completion
